The Subiaco Smallbore Rifle Club (SSRC) has now commissioned a fully electronic target system for 50 metres.
While Wednesday night shooting is now largely electronic, practicing or sighting in rifles will remain on paper targets (as seen below).
Paper targets will also be used during competition weekends at 20, 50 & 90 metre ranges or during club fun nights, every 5th Wednesday of the month.
If you haven't used electronic targets before, this is a new level of fun!
CLUB TARGETS
We shoot on two different styles of targets.
Wednesday nights we shoot at 50 metres and each month we alternate between TRA Club Class or ISSF Bench WASRA.
Club Class targets are not international standard but are easier, having a larger central "10" scoring circle enabling novice shooters to accrue a good score.
Targets have a second central "bullseye" in the middle for a higher score of "10.1.1" with a maximum score after 20 scoring shots of 200.20.20.
ISSF TARGETS
ISSF targets (International Shooting Sport Federation) are shot every second month.
These are harder to shoot as the central "10" scoring circle is smaller.
On paper targets there are five aiming circles per card, 4 are for scoring, the centre one is for aiming and practice.
Shooters must hit the very centre to score the maximum of "10.1", with a maximum score after 20 shots of 200.20.
Like the Club Class, shooters are allowed a maximum of 20 scoring shots per detail, making a potential total of 200.20.
CLUB COMPETITIONS
Every Wednesday night, we have a nightly winner for the highest score for prone and bench rest.
Your handicap is tracked through the year and a monthly prize is awarded annually for the highest each month.
There are main prizes for the cumulative monthly scores over the year for Club and ISSF in both Prone and Benchrest disciplines.
The club also holds an annual Open Championship Competition during the Queen's Birthday weekend.
Paper targets. The middle aiming circle is for practice, as many shots as you like, with the outside four being for the scoring shoots (5 only per circle).
